Cicadas

Gossamer Wings
cicadda cicadda-1 cicadda-2

Every year as we approach Christmas a truly remarkable transformation takes place.
Everyone has experienced their call at some level or another.
A few years back we had so many Cicada’s in the surrounding bush at Woollamia it was impossible to stay out side for more that a few minutes.Their call was so loud it actually made your ears hurt.
I think this year could be another one of those years, because yesterday I took a quick look around and on nearly every tree and fence post I found groups of this amazing insect in every stage of it’s transformation.
From the prehistoric looking hard shelled body emerges an amazing and beautiful gossamer winged beauty ready to fly.

The story behind this amazing little film.
